Author's Purpose/Propósito del autor

We have been studying author's purpose in class this week. Below are some links to activities that will give you a chance to practice a little more and show off what you know about this important skill. Click on each of the links and complete the activity that follows. Remember the acronym "PIE." It will remind you that authors write to persuade, inform, or entertain. Have fun!

Norman Rockwell Inferences/Haciendo inferencias con Norman Rockwell

When you make inferences, you have to be a detective. You pay attention to the details and make a guess about what you think is going on. Norman Rockwell was a famous American artist who painted scenes of daily life, but his paintings often show more than what the picture seems to be about at first glance. Be a detective and take a closer look at these Norman Rockwell paintings. Make an inference about what else you think is happening in each picture. In your post, be sure to include your inference AND the evidence (clues) you used to make it.

Cuando haces inferencias, tienes que ser detective. Notas los detalles y formas una opinión sobre lo que crees que está sucediendo. Norman Rockwell era un famoso pintor norteamericano que pintaba escenas de la vida diaria, pero sus obras tienden a mostrar más que solamente el tema del cuadro. Sé detective y mira estos cuadros de Norman Rockwell con un ojo más crítico. Haz una inferencia sobre lo que crees que está sucediendo en cada pintura. En tu respuesta, asegúrate de incluir tu inferencia Y TAMBIÉN la evidencia (las pistas) que usaste para hacerla.
